Marion Bono received her B.A. in Speech Education and English and M.Ed. in Speech Education from McNeese State University. In addition, she is certified to be a Principal and Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction. At St. Louis High School she taught English, Speech, Reading Lab, and coached Speech, Drama, and Debate and was Director of Curriculum and Instruction. She was also the principal and teacher on the Adolescent Unit of Charter Psychiatric Hospital, and “retired” after teaching 10 years at LaGrange High School. Since coming to McNeese, she has taught in the English as a Second Language Institute (housed on this campus) and Fundamentals of Public Speaking (Speech 201) in the Mass Communication Department. She is an active member of NAMI (National Association for Mental Illness) where she teaches a course and facilitates a support group for families who have a family member with a diagnosis of a mental illness and is a member of a team of speakers who goes into schools with a presentation designed to encourage teachers to notice signs of early onset of mental illness.
